Russia Makes Front Line Breakthrough in Ukraine

Ukraine's armed forces report a significant development as Russian troops achieve a breakthrough in Donetsk, penetrating Krasnohorivka, a crucial city in the region. Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine's Khortytsia operational-strategic group, disclosed that Russian assault groups have breached into the western sector of Donetsk, securing access to an industrial complex. "Through the coordinated efforts of our units, particularly the 59th brigade, we've managed to contain the enemy's advancement, effectively encircling them," Voloshyn stated on Ukraine's Army TV, as relayed by local media. "Our defenders maintain complete control over Krasnohorivka and its peripheries," he emphasized, adding that Russian forces are isolated from ammunition replenishments. Despite Russian attempts to seize nearby territories like Netaylove and parts of Pervomaiske, Voloshyn affirmed, "Our soldiers are staunchly repelling their advances."

Reports from Russian milbloggers narrate the intense combat situation in Krasnohorivka, with one source claiming Russian forces have gained ground within the city limits. However, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) casts doubt on these assertions, lacking visual confirmation. As the conflict escalates, Russian momentum persists in Donetsk Oblast, with a strategic focus on capturing Chasiv Yar, potentially serving as a launchpad for further incursions. "The primary battleground in Krasnohorivka centers around the industrial plant, predominantly under our control, though clearance operations are ongoing as the enemy remains entrenched," detailed "Voenkor Kotenyok" in a Telegram update.

Meanwhile, ISW's daily assessment notes marginal gains for Moscow's forces in western Donetsk but underscores the stability of the front line, where elements of Russia's 238th Artillery Brigade are active. The conflict's spillover is evident in a Ukrainian airstrike on Russia's Belgorod Oblast, resulting in injuries and property damage. Additionally, Russia persists in its drone offensive, launching Shahed-type drones from Crimea towards Ukraine. Despite intercepting a significant portion over Odesa Oblast, the extent of damage remains undisclosed.
